Technically Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition Player’s Handbook… technically.

I loved Talon of the Silverhawk, I loved King of Foxes… I even liked the third book of the trilogy which was a little inferior to the first two and more of a set-up for the next trilogy. I have finally got round to starting that second trilogy.

Flight of the Nighthawks
I’ve been told a few things about and it and gather that there are one or two continuity errors. I’ll hold off annoyance until I’m done.

I’m also re-reading Sabriel, Abhorsen and Lirael because I finally got them back after a three-year lend to a very dear friend who was in hospital at the time :) I really, really love how Garth Nix portrays necromancy in the world he has created… it is beautifully done. His other work hasn’t really appealed to me.

Lack of updates…

It really is quite frankly down to having half my time sucked away elsewhere, I need to smack the site around before I can really make updates and even then I’m currently tied up with other projects.

Anno Geometrica
While it is available for free on the wiki we are releasing a print version, the two expansions will be print only (Unless TJ decides to also provide them free) as a way of trying to reward the efforts put into the project. There may also be a third or fourth expansion which will provide an ancient world setting and a few adventures for AG.

The print version will contain a few illustrations that the wiki is missing, It’ll also feature a few other bonuses to make it worth buying for people interested in running games with it.

We’ll be at Indie Con this year so you may get a chance to play in a one-off swashbuckling adventure… I’m angling for a sky pirate demo myself but we’ll see what can be arranged.

Paper Mages
Anno Geometrica is going to be the first release of a small indie RPG label called Paper Mages, which will be made up of a few easy-going designers based in Edinburgh and Milton Keynes. The second title is an interesting fantasy system which I have made some very pretty little maps for.

Paper Mages will also be supporting other indie products with writing and/or illustration.

The amazing thing about Spore and the amazing thing about the creature creator (that which empowers users) lies in the potential of the entire operation… Browser-based pet games and other enterprises (to name one) must look on with envy at that which Maxis have wrought upon their dominion… for the creature creator and Spore form the engined basis of a most amazing pet based game. If they cultivated the kind of mod culture that created the likes of Counter Strike (as one previously successful example) I could see the creature creator alone providing the basis for some very adventurous mods. Spore-a-mon anyone?

Here is a video of one of my creations (I’ve taken a shine to this one) called the Moosewulfen:

Either way I cannot wait for Spore itself, the creature creator is crazy fun on its own.
