City of Heroes - Blaster Gameplay Video

Recently returned to City of Heroes, this is a fairly nice video (Not of my character) in my quest to bore certain friends to death and convert them into willing allies of my heroic endeavours…

EVE Trinity Trailer

It hits my geek spot hard… awesome space frigates and massive fleets doing battle? It makes me tingle all over, some relic of the Star Wars/Star Trek/Wing Commander/Battlestar Galactica experience (Also watching dogfights between fighter planes in any good war movie).

CoH double XP weekend!

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

A weekend to make the most of for CoH players, shame that I have to work most of it eh?

I thought I’d take a quick moment to share some snippets from the main character I’ve been using the past week or so:

CoH character collage 01 CoH character collage 02 CoH character collage 03

(Normal Costume / Heavy Duty Costume / Supergroup Costume [The SG costume has been updated with a cape & rocket boots since...])

There is also an exciting change to the XP debt system, the link is listed down below (second link). In this case the source will simply tell you what I’m too lazy to paraphrase :)

Steampunk MMORPG, A dearest desire…

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

There is a magical place where the most romantic visions of Victorian style and modern function come alive, a place where the gentleman meets captain tight-pants* and a geek like me feels a build-up of SQUEE in the pleasure zones of the brain. It is a place called Steampunk.

There is something beautiful and wondrous about the convergence of antiquity with the magic of the modern age, something so pleasing to the imagination, emboldening and free, timeless and golden. Steampunk takes you out of the fantasy realm, it removes you from the sci-fi and when your back is turned it re-arranges the furniture of both, dragging in the real and twisting strands of alternate history into a fabric of sheer magnificence!

Is there a MMORPG yet? Not that I can see… madness surely! The closest I think was Sword of the New World and that was a fairly shoddy ‘half-finished’ Korean offering and only barely touching on steampunk elements… not enough.

In my search so far I have uncovered hope courtesy of a blog, Brass Goggles.

The problem I find with ‘Neo Steam’ (Asides from it being in Korean) is that it is a very… well, a very different kind of steam punk. Those bouncy anime styled breasts on the front page of their portal tell me its going to be a very cutesy approach.

Edit: I highly recommend you subscribe to the feed of the above site if you enjoy steampunk, it sucked me in for hours and hours of archive back-tracking… I am sure there are alternatives out there that I haven’t discovered but I’ll put my faith in this one, it is rather nicely done.

Edit 2: I am resolved to add a new set of pages dealing with a Steampunk MMORPG concept, I will be seeking permission however since it will adapt a large portion of a friends background material which is already highly suited towards this end.

Sure I’d leave your character for dead…
